Australia trip with whetted appetite

DataPolarna Managing Director Anders Marklund travelled extensively in Australia in October to follow up on an interesting contact that we developed at a couple of meetings in conjunction with LIGNA trade fairs in recent years.

“It involved a week-long tour among facilities of TimberLink, the Australian sawmill group, which has three relatively large sawmills, including one in Tasmania,” Anders reports. “TimberLink has shown great interest in SIPlan and SIPal – and actually in the entire SawInfo family as well as GPSTimber.”

During his first visit, Anders focused on informing the group’s key personnel about DataPolarna’s operations and products, but he also surveyed TimberLink’s needs and how DataPolarna can help improve the group’s logistics and production in various ways.

“Overall, I think that it was a very interesting and rewarding trip,” Anders continues. “And I can attest that Business Sweden’s representative, with whom we met before the trip, was absolutely right when he stated that Australia is ‘the European home market located farthest away’. Much is the same among the sawmills there, although there are small differences, too.”

When Anders left TimberLink, the interest on their part was so great that they are planning to come here and visit us in connection with SawTech Days later this spring.
