More success for GPS Timber

GPS Timber is ours and Cartesia’s joint system for more efficient timber yard logistics. GPS Timber was developed by DataPolarna while Cartesia handles marketing. The system is based on GPS technology, and with the help of communication between the central office and the lorries, it keeps track of what is stored where, where the lorries/vehicles are and which activities are being carried out.

Lennart Landström, Head of Sales for GPS Timber is very happy with the latest deliveries:

“We are busy introducing the systems at Siljan Timber as well as Blyberg Timber. They will be fully operational in April. We are very happy to finally be able to deliver GPS Timber after a long period of discussions and working with these interesting customers. They are guaranteed to get a lot of use out of our logistics system in the future.”

Lennart also says that he has recently signed up another interesting customer, namely Södra Cell in Mönsterås.

“It is planning a big increase in production, and our system will now form an important part of this work. The facility is a combined papermill and sawmill that run in parallel. In other words, in the long term, it will be possible to synchronise the logistics work at the mills with the help of GPS Timber. But for the time being, our delivery is only for the papermill.”

This year’s GPS Timber Convention will be held at Älvkarleö Herrgård on 14-15 March. And this time, we have an interesting study visit at Stora Enso Pulp, Skutskär. There is still time to register. Just send an email to: lennart.landstrom@cartesia.se
